Wawona Hotel

This Victorian lodge in the park’s southern section opens seasonally. It lies next to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias.

Founded in 1856, the Wawona Hotel is one of the earliest mountain getaway hotels near Yosemite National Park in California.

This National Historic Landmark is ideally near many sites and activities: close to the Pioneer History Center and the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias.

This Yosemite National Park hotel, surrounded by forests, is 45 minutes from Yosemite Valley and is considerably more tranquil and calm than other parts of the park.

The accommodation includes 50 standard hotel rooms and 54 rooms with shared bathrooms.

Along with a pool, a nine-hole golf course, and riding stables, it also features a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and supper, a club with musical acts in the evening and other amenities.

The hotel’s usual operating months are late March to early December and mid-December to early January.

Housekeeping Camp provides a laid-back outdoor experience by the Merced River in Yosemite Valley, open during the season.

The camp, situated in the valley’s heart, has three-sided concrete buildings with canvas roofs and privacy curtains.

Each Housekeeping Camp unit has two electricity outlets, one outside and one within the sleeping area.

All Yosemite National Park lodge reservations are available 366 days in advance. 

You must make your Yosemite lodging reservations as soon as possible, especially during the peak months of spring through fall and holidays.

Yosemite National Park lodging is in high demand and can be incredibly pricey.    

For more economical and quiet options, you can expand your search to encompass the park’s more sedate areas, such as Wawona, Yosemite West, Foresta, or Tuolumne.

Alternatively, choose one of the adjacent settlements just beyond the park’s boundaries, which typically offers better services, including faster wifi and restaurants or live music.

White Wolf Lodge

Situated along Tioga Road north of the valley floor, White Wolf Lodge is another well-liked Yosemite lodging site. 

White Wolf Lodge has 24 canvas-tent cottages and four classic wood cabins with individual bathrooms.

The seclusion and tranquility of White Wolf Lodge is just a 45- to 60-minute drive from Yosemite Valley, making it one of the best Yosemite National Park hotels.

You can reach the lodge via the Tuolumne Meadows Hikers Bus, which offers service between Tuolumne Meadows, Tioga Road, White Wolf Lodge, and Yosemite Valley.

You’ll discover complete solitude in this meadow covered with wildflowers and surrounded by pine trees, usually open from mid-July to early September.

Tuolumne Meadows Lodge

Situated next to the Tuolumne River and near Tuolumne Meadows, the lodge houses 69 canvas-tent cabins.

Without phone service, TV, or electricity, guests at the camp center have easy access to bathrooms and showers.

In a main dining tent along the Tuolumne River, Tuolumne Meadows Lodge offers a fulfilling family-style breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The approximate opening period for the Tuolumne Meadows Lodge is early July to mid-September.

High Sierra Camps

The popular high country attractions are nearby, with canvas-sided tent cabins open seasonally and about 50 miles from Yosemite Valley.

Seven basic lodging sites in the High Sierra Camps offer a great way to explore the remote country without a backpack. 

The 2023 loop of the High Sierra Camps will last five nights. It will begin at Tuolumne Meadows Lodge, go to Glen Aulin, May Lake, and Sunrise Lake, and conclude at Tuolumne Meadows Lodge.

The camps are spaced six to ten miles apart along a circular route.

The location is reachable by foot or by horseback riding.

If you are new to the Yosemite Wilderness, go for the guided mule journeys and hiking excursions.

Glacier Point Ski Hut

After a 10.5-mile cross-country ski trip, this Winter Lodge provides bunks with stunning views of Half Dome and Yosemite Valley. 

The Ski Hut, offering lodging in stone and log structures at Glacier Point, is one of Yosemite’s most stunning and magnificent sights in winter. 

Yosemite Valley, Half Dome, and the Yosemite High Country are all visible from the site, with rustic accommodations and an appealing dining room.

You can stay a night on the 21-mile round hike to the Hut and return the next day after exploring Glacier Point. 

The Hut is only accessible during the winter, and reservations are necessary.

Kids must be at least 14 years old and travel with an adult at Glacier Point Ski Hut.

Beyond Yosemite Ski & Snowboard Area, Glacier Point Road is open from December to March.
